Why give?

  • Scripture Reading

Each week we take time to hear God’s Word read aloud, allowing Scripture to speak for itself. This time helps prepare hearts for prayer, centers our focus on the Lord, and reminds us of the truth we stand on.

  • Expanding Nationwide

What started as a small group has become a growing movement. We help college-aged women grow in prayer, read and live out Scripture, and get connected to a local church. Your support makes it possible to bring this to more campuses and communities across the country.

  • Small Group Prayer

This is the heart of our morning. We begin by praying out loud for one another, lifting up the person on our right by name. Prayer is simply talking to God, and this time helps make it a normal and natural part of our friendships. After we pray, we discuss the Scripture that was read at the beginning, letting God’s Word guide our conversations and shape our faith.

  • Coffee & Community

Coffee makes it easier for everyone to show up early, connect, and feel at home. The affirmations on each cup lid add a thoughtful touch and often spark conversations throughout the day. It is a small but meaningful way to create space for friendships to grow before we begin prayer.

  • Peer Testimonies

Hearing how God is moving in someone else’s life builds faith in our own. Each testimony shared at Eighteen Twenty is a reminder that we are not alone and that God is working in powerful and personal ways. These stories inspire hope, encourage boldness, and point our hearts back to His faithfulness.

  • Local Church Plug-In

We believe being part of a local church is essential for lasting spiritual growth. We help girls find a home church in Knoxville by connecting them with others who already attend, encouraging them to get involved and serve in the body of Christ.

“Eighteen Twenty has provided me with such an intentional group of girls! It keeps me accountable and supports me in more ways than one. These girls means more to me than I can express! Eighteen Twenty has shaped my college experience abundantly by bringing me closer to the Lord each and every week! I couldn’t imagine this college life without such genuine and authentic girls.”

Dawson Durrett

“1820 has shaped my college experience in countless ways. It has given me such a sweet community and has completely strengthened my prayer life coming into college. Witnessing how God has multiplied 1820 has completely strengthened my faith. The first one I went to had around 10 people and the last one I went to had too many people to fit in the library. It has truly encouraged my faith knowing what God can do when we are obedient to Him. Praying over people and being prayed over at 1820 has been a gift to me coming into college.”

Sonni Werner

“Coming into college, I longed for a group of girls that encouraged me to grow in my faith and I am beyond grateful to have found that and more in Eighteen Twenty! This group has given me the sense of belonging that I need to thrive and the confidence to pursue my college experience with a firm foundation in the Lord. He has incredible plans for us and I'm so thankful to have community that inspires me to follow His way faithfully and fearlessly. It has pushed me to strengthen my understanding of God by allowing me to develop my relationship with Him and with my sisters in Christ, which is such a beautiful gift!!! I'm so deeply grateful for this group and all that it's done in my life. God is so evident in it all and I can't wait for the ways he will continue to provide and move!”

Jeresi Bradshaw

“Eighteen Twenty has helped me to remain focused on developing my faith. Life moves pretty fast in college, especially freshman year, but Eighteen Twenty has always been a way for me to keep my eyes set on what’s most important: a relationship with the Lord. Seeing these girls each week and praying together is so important to me and it fills me with such joy! I’m so happy to be a part of this group, it’s showed me that the college experience is truly about something much greater!”

 FAQs

  • Our name comes from Ephesians 6:18–20, which calls believers to pray at all times, be alert, and boldly share the gospel. These verses capture the heart of our ministry — gathering to pray, encouraging one another, and equipping women to live out their faith with courage.

  • Eighteen Twenty is built around prayer. Our mission is to encourage college-aged women in prayer, deepen their relationship with the Lord and one another, equip them to read and pray Scripture, and help them get connected to a local church. We are not tied to a specific church, which allows us to partner with many and help students find a place to grow and serve.

  • We start with Revival Prayer, coming together as one to pray for God to move in our hearts, on campus, and in our city. We have a Scripture Reading where our Head of Devotion reads straight from the Word of God. During Individual Prayer, girls receive prompts and a passage of Scripture to pray through, reflect on, and listen for what God is speaking. We end with Small Group Prayer, lifting one another up by name and discussing what stood out from the Scripture. Coffee and community time are woven in to create space for connection and encouragement.

  • Any college-aged woman looking to grow in her faith and build Christ centered friendships is welcome! Come as you are!

  • Nope! Just show up! If you want to get involved beyond attending, you can sign up for small groups or leadership opportunities.

  • Just yourself! Some girls also bring a Bible, journal, or notebook to take notes on Scripture, reflect during silent prayer time, or write down what God is teaching them.

  • That’s completely okay! Many girls come in feeling the same way. Eighteen Twenty is a safe space to learn and grow in confidence in your prayer life.
